The New Education Policy 2020 has approved by the cabinet of Prime Minister Narendra Modi after a long period of 34 years. This policy launched on Wed, July 29 by Information and broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar and HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal. The last Education policy was applied in 1986. Many changes have taken in NEP 2020 to cope with the new challenges of the 21st century. I will explain every main change in a simple way that u can easily understand this New Education Policy.
New Changes --
1. The name of HRD ministry (Ministry of Human Resource Development) has been changed to "Education Ministry".
2. The Top-ranked universities of India will be motivated to open new campuses in other countries. And also the big universities of other countries welcomed to set up their campuses in India.
3. New Pedagogical and curricular structure :
The 10+2 Structure in school education that exists from 1986 has been removed and a new structure 5+3+3+4 structure has been introduced. The year or period of education will be the same only it is restructured. There are a total of 4 stages named Fundamental stage, Preparatory stage, Middle stage, and secondary stage included in NEP 2020.

4. Higher Education secretary Amit Khare announced that E-Content will be made available in regional language including English and Hindi. The E-Content will be uploaded in 8 major languages.
5. School Education Secretary Anita Karwal, announced that the National Curriculum and pedagogical Framework will be developed by NCERT for children up to the age of 8.
6. In this 21st Century of Digital era, the skill of coding will be given to the students of class 6.
7. In the new NEP 2020, they try to reduce the stress of Board exams by dividing exam criteria into two parts. The first is objective and the second is descriptive. According to NEP 2020 exams should be knowledge centric rather than rote learning.
8. NEP 2020 focused on the Holistic Development of students. Many skills are also evaluated with the subjects in the report card.
9. University Entrance exams will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) twice a year for many subjects like sciences, humanities, arts, languages, and Vocational.
10. NEP 2020 also focuses on the physical and mental health of students. Health card will be issued to all the students. Regular check-ups will be carried to maintain the good health of students.
11. The content of the curriculum will be reduced and follow the holistic approach. It will be based on application and problem-solving techniques.
12. All streams will be treated equally whether it is Science, Art, and Craft, Vocational skills, and Humanities.
13. The medium of instruction will be in Local or Regional languages up to 5th Grade and preferably till 8th Grade.
14. Not any language will be strictly imposed on students. It will be the choice of State, region, and students.
15. A total of 6% of GDP will be for the Education sector which was 1.7%.
16. Whole Higher Education except Medical and legal education will be managed under a single body, the Higher Education Commission of India (HECI). HECI will be worked on four pillars- National Higher Education Regulatory Council (NHERC) for regulation, General Education Council (GEC) for standard-setting, Higher Education Grants Council (HEGC) for funding, and National Accreditation Council (NAC) for accreditation.
